E-learning is a field fast growing, still to catch up in India.
There’s a reason for this blog to be titled 'rE-learning'.
While I was thinking about a name for my blog I knew it had to be related to learning. The word e-learning was doing the rounds in my mind, but then again it had to sound different, so I placed an ‘r’ in front of it, now now, it wasn’t done just for the sake of it. I had a question in mind about the present generation, which is pretty much used to the F2F concept of learning (keeping in mind the current educational scenario in our country).
I just thought that if they were to go through an e-learning experience, how much of preparation would it require both for the learners as well as the facilitators? Or let’s say how much would they need to re-learn both in terms of technology and the strategies?
There are so many aspects to e-learning that are quite different from the F2F situation. For one that you may never meet your classmates or moderators, you don’t have the advantage of monitoring your learners as in an F2F situation. The level of motivation of students, interest and environment created by the content all make a difference to e-learning. It is up to us to take up this new invention of technology and education and put it to the best of its use.
E-learning is opening up new avenues for the coming generation but are we ready to learn…or rather rE-learn?
All comments on this post are sincerely invited. This thought just scurried through my mind, I may be wrong and I am waiting to be corrected if that’s the case.

I believe, e-learning has been a revolutionary uprising in the field of learning..hence rE-learning, I guess.
e-learning is definitely a task, both for the learners and the facilitators as well. It's far different from an F2F situation and hence even more challenging.
Creating a learner friendly environment is easier said than done and only those who are in the stream of creating the content, deciding on the strategies to be implemented and many such backstage tasks know how tedious the job is.
But what matters is the final output. If you look at this concept from a different angle, one would know its worth. It's actually inviting people to enter the world of education without pysically being at the venue. What can be more exciting than this!!!Language, religion, accomodation problems are no longer the roadblocks for the travellers on the path towards learning. WOW!! Fabulous!
Hats-off to all the brilliant-brains who have been slogging to make this concept a success! And not to forget, the learners without whom this industry would not have achieved it's goal!
rE-learning, yes you are right, for a person new to the internet and the emerging technologies, online learning needs re-learning. But more so for the teacher/facilitator who earlier could do with little homework, dip into her mind and depend upon impromptu innovation in the class-room. This I say, because, most of the current learners are tech savvy as compared to their trainers, many of whom are still fumbling with the technological advances. They really need to overcome their fear and hesitation and relearn some basic stuff to be able to spread their knowledge in the new way. Then they will be hooked.
India has impregnated the culture of face to face teaching right since gurukul traditions.
So I think people have become apprehensive about this revolutionary concept of education (e-learning)either because of ignorance in technology or the technique.
The fact that quality education has been kept intact is yet to be discovered by majority of the masses. It becomes especially useful in todays busy world where quality education is not compromised for our busy schedule!
I think the concept of e-learning has been a revolutionary change in the scenario of education in India. It has shown a ray of knowledge to a country that does not have proper electricity in some rural places even today. Dreaming of such high end solutions for education in such a situation itself is highly commendable.
Creating e-learning environment can be a benchmark in such a country, but that will take another revolutionary movement.I can call it the " Revolution in Education".
E-learning is a new avenue altogether wherein a leraner learns in an entirely different set-up of education. It's more about getting used to this new learning scenario than learning to 'learn' anew. Technology is just a tool that has attempted to ease up the process by bringing the education to one's doorstep..but eventually, what remains and makes the learning take place is the learner's own desire and commitment towards the same.(not to forget that the efforts of an ID are equally important to keep the learner engaged and motivated throughout the process).
The mode of learning is changing with the changing times and requirements...the learning isn't!
Yes Hemangi, I agree with you. Not because of online learnig becoming the modern way of learning, learning and re-learning has become very easy. as a virtue of online learnig, persuing with education has become possible at any age, at any place, even if you are working or cannot physically be present at college. you can be placed at any corner of the world and can take up a course on any virtual university and access the course at your convinience.
I agree with you.The time has come, where the learning has begun,Though the mode is different, but it's so much fun!
'The e-learning era'is the times' new name,The new wave of education,as many of us claim !
The e-learning eraneeds all of you,To add on the treasure of knowledgeand go beyond the horizon's view!So let us rock it.
The beauty of e-learning lies in the fact that its success depends on the motivation, interest, quality of content and its presentation. The focus and thrust is on interaction, content and methods to present the content. I feel it is the right choice for learners who are focussed and will not compromise on quality education. Consider todays learing scenerio, in India, students learning in F2F may not be happy with the fact that they have to travel long distance to finally meet the teacher who may not be approachable and who is disinterested in active communication with students. There are disadvantages in F2F that e-learning is trying to cover up but since it is in its preliminary stage there would be teething problems. e-learning has opened new avenues for learning to interested learners with busy schedules or location problems.
